Day 24-Preparation and Planning
8 Days to Balance and Fulfillment in 2015
Well, we’ve almost made it. It’s almost 2015. Are you feeling balanced and fulfilled yet? Don’t laugh, I know it’s not that easy. I wish we could read posts and magically have it all together . But, I know it takes a little more work than that. I just hope I’ve given you a little help along the way. I truly believe that when I encourage someone else, I’m encouraging myself. So, know this is not a one sided conversation. With that said, let’s dive into one area that I always need help with, preparation and planning.
Now, I’m sure that doesn’t sound right. Most caregivers are “stealth ninjas” when it comes to planning. You have to be, or should be to help minimize the “cray cray” of our lives. But, that’s just not me. I think it relates back to my Myers-Briggs type.
The Myers-Briggs is a personality indicator assessment that was developed by G.C. Jung to give insight into how people see the world, how they think, and how they perform in certain environments. This tool is heavily used in work environments to predict how someone will adapt to the work and culture of companies. I’m an Introvert/Extrovert that sees the end of goal. But, doesn’t normally plan out all of the details to get there. So, planning and me normally don’t see eye to eye. I can do it when I have to. But, It takes a great deal of effort and focus on my part. Especially, when it comes to my dreams.
It’s so natural for us to focus on others or work when being required to come up with goals or plans. When is the last time that you sat down, and gave some thought to what you want to accomplish? Or better yet, put down a few goals that you want to focus on? It’s been a little while for me. I’m so fortunate to have been able to make the conscious choice to do the things I wanted this year (e.g. Do 5K’s, a half-marathon, travel, etc.) But, this time I really want to focus. So, I’m going to do some vision boards.
Vision boards, are boards that are decorated with pictures and words representing our goals. I’m going to do one for Fitness, My Blog , and My Life/Hobbies. I really feel like having my goals laid out visually will help me be able to achieve them. Plus, I get to have fun finding pictures . So, I’m going to take a day or two to start jotting down my thoughts, and getting my supplies. Won’t you join me in the fun?
You deserve to have the best life possible. The only way to do that is take the time to feed your soul. Take a moment, and think about what you want to achieve. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming, so don’t make it that way. Set a few goals that seem tangible, and go after them with everything you have. Once you begin achieving them. You’ll be inspired to do more and more. Be patient with yourself.
