Day 3- The Awakening
28 Days to Balance and Fulfillment in 2015
Hello everyone! It’s Wednesday, the halfway point for the week. How’s your week going? There are so many things going on, and so many things to be thankful about. Gratitude changes attitudes. So, I wanted to take some of that positive “juju” to talk about another big part of the journey to balance and fulfillment in 2015. Let’s talk about the awakening of our heart’s desires.
How long has it been since you thought about what you really wanted out of life? Let me preface this question by mentioning that it has nothing to do with material possessions. Let’s put material possessions on the side for now. Don’t get me wrong; we all have bills. But, right now we need to feed the soul. Once the soul is fed, the cash will come.
I want to know about the goals and desires that are deep inside of your soul. The goals and desires that you know would be your life’s dream to achieve. What do you feel when you think about them? Do you feel this “pull” to achieve them? Do you say to yourself; “If I wasn’t a caregiver I could do this?” Or, always think of reasons why you’ll never be able to do it? Then, this post is for you & me.
When I had the opportunity to attend Oprah’s Live The Life You Want Tour in Miami. We did an exercise that I want to share with you. I want you to take a moment to close your eyes (Please finish reading this before you do this. It’ll make it easier for you ) Picture someone you love. See their face, and hear their voice. Think about of things you wish for them to achieve in life? Now write down all of your thoughts. How do you feel? When I did it, all I could do was cry.
I thought about my sister. I could see her smiling at me, and hear her sweet voice. I thought about all of the things I want her to achieve in life. She’s the hardest working person I know, and her heart is so beautiful. To learn more about her, click here. It’s my “love letter” to her. This exercise filled me with passion to help her achieve all of my heart’s desires for her life. Then, Oprah turned the tables, and said now it’s “our turn.”
WTH! I was struggling. I couldn’t think that way about myself. All I could think about was my family. This exercise reminded me how as caregivers we have “tunnel vision” when it comes to our lives. We give so much of ourselves to them, that we forget to leave something for ourselves. Which was the point of that exercise. We have to have the same passion and love for others, for ourselves. That’s the only way to live the life we want. That’s the only way we’re going to be balanced and fulfilled in 2015.
So, what are you dreaming of for the one you love? Do you dream with the same level of passion for yourself? Tonight, do that exercise. Tell me what you discovered about yourself. I discovered that I have to love me more, in order to truly live. This is our journey! We’re in this together. Until we chat tomorrow!
