Day 4- It’s Time To Learn A New Way!

27 Days to Balance and Fulfillment in 2015

Happy Thursday! Or better yet, “Happy Friday-Eve”! The countdown is beginning to the weekend, and my first half-marathon!! I can’t wait to share that experience with you. I’m nervous and scared, but super excited. This is one of my “bucket list” items about to come true! Just remember, all things are possible. So, I have one question for you today. “How are you feeling the day after?”

Yesterday, we focused all of our energy and love on someone that means the world to us. It was our moment to wake up, and realize that if we can lavish that much love on someone else. There is no reason why; we can’t do that for ourselves. But, before we begin making plans about what we want to do. We have to look at where we’re at right now. Let’s do a little exercise.

Change How You Talk About Your Liife
                                                                            Your Words Have Power!
  1. Think about all of the areas of your life (e.g. Friendships, Family, Faith, Finances, Love, etc.). Now, list all of the areas that are the most important to you in achieving the life you want.
  1. Next, draw a large circle. Divide it into slices based on the areas of your life that are most important to you. Also, divide the slices based upon the level of importance to you. So, if it’s super important, than make it a big slice, etc.
  1. Now, based upon how you feel about each area label your slices either Good, So-So, or Bad.

This is a “mini checkup” to help you identify, how you truly see your life. When your eyes are open, you can truly see what you need and want. When I did this exercise, my results were as follows:

  1. Most Important areas: Family, Spirituality, Contribution to the world
  2. Areas that need a “little attention”: Love, Family, and Finances

I was kind of sad about my results. It mad me feel like I haven’t accomplished all of the things I should’ve at this point in my life. I also started doing the dreaded wondering about “If I wasn’t a caregiver, would things be different?” That’s never the right path to go. It doesn’t lead to anywhere, except unhappiness. But, you have to move past your regrets to be better. So, I’m moving on. I’m choosing to look at these results in a new waysmile. I came up with this “mantra” that helps me stay focused.

“I’m blessed to have a family and faith in God that allows me to be able to share my experiences with others to encourage them on the caregiving journey. I will continue to make my family a top priority by ensuring that I’m happy, healthy, and fulfilled in all areas of my life. When I do this, I will have all of my needs met in all areas.”

I was able to take my “challenges” and turn them into my inspiration to be better. That’s what this is all about. We just have to be willing to put in the work. So, try this exercise and let me know your personal mantra. Remember, you’re a priority!! Until we meet tomorrow!
